New chat commands: /help, /w and /users

Hey pilots,

One fix and three new commands have landed in chat.

First, the fix: messages can be copied again

When you tried to select a message and released the cursor over a pilot’s name, a private message tab opened and your selection was lost. On top of that, every incoming message scrolled the chat to the bottom while you were selecting, breaking the selection again. Both are fixed:

  • Clicking a pilot’s name no longer opens a private message tab while text is selected.
  • Incoming messages no longer scroll the view while you are selecting inside chat.

You can now select and copy a message without fighting the panel.

Three new commands

Just type them into the chat box and press Enter.

/help — Lists every command available to you, right in the chat window. No need to memorise anything.

/w <pilot name> <message> — Sends a private message straight to a pilot, without opening a tab first.

/w Annex hey, are you at the gate?

Pilot names are not case sensitive, so annex works just as well as Annex. The name has to be complete — partial matches are deliberately not accepted, so your message never reaches the wrong person. If that pilot is not online, chat tells you.

/users — Lists the pilots currently online on your server, one per line.

Worth knowing

  • Commands are not sent to chat as messages; only you see the output.
  • /w uses the normal private message path, so mute, block and staff protection all still apply.
  • On very busy servers /users caps the list at 200 names and tells you the total separately.
  • Mistype a command and chat will point you back to /help.
  • Everything is available in 15 languages; the command names (/help, /w, /users) are the same in all of them.
